DISTRICT [CD4] MEETING

DFA has launched a brand new interactive Night School webpage
www.democracyforamerica.com/nightschool
The new Night School web page includes interactive audio and video presentations of every Night School session to date. Presentations are arranged according to their appropriate Night School semester, and arranged by topic title. Once again all of these materials are completely free to view at your convenience.
DFA holds intensive training weekends in cities across the country in order to focus, network, and train
grassroots activists in the skills and strategies to take back our country. This isn't just about the next election, or what we can do for our country every two to four years. This is about building a movement to take back our country. Because organizing your own neighborhood can have such national implications, DFA's Night School has focused on how you can change history by simply talking to the voters in your own neighborhood.
Camp Wellstone: www.wellstone.org/training-calendar/
This 2.5 day training, running from 2-9pm Friday, 9am-6pm Saturday, and 9am-3:30pm Sunday, combines lectures from highly experienced trainers, stimulating exercises, and interactive simulations. Camp Wellstone is divided into three tracks: • Citizen activist track. For people interested in citizen lobbying, issue advocacy, and community organizing, this track provides skills in how to win on issues. • Campaign track. This track focuses on how to be an effective staff or volunteer member of a winning progressive campaign. • Candidate track. This is for people who have made the decision to run for office.
The DFA Training Academy also produces Night School. These are live, interactive presentations that you can watch from your computer. Lesson topics range from Volunteer Recruitment to "Framing" to "Online Media". The cost is completely free, and you can download past presentations to watch at your convenience. DVD versions are also available for purchase.
DFA Night School is an on-line training and live conference call that you can do from your own home. This year you will be able to choose if you want to call into a free conference call or listen to Night School streaming live from your computer through Blog Talk Radio.
Simply RSVP and you'll be sent the website and phone number to listen to the show.
Precinct Organizing: Getting Started www.dfalink.com/precinctorganizing
Content from last Fall's sequence on precinct organizing remains available on their website.
There are over 203,000 precincts in America and the vast majority of them have never been organized. Neighborhoods that have active precinct programs consistently perform better than unorganized ones. This is something that anyone, anywhere can do. Not only will you increase Democratic voter registration and turnout in every election, but you'll also help build and shape our local Democratic party.
